Can I look for a job in NZ on a Visitor Visa?

The short answer is yes, however it is important to understand that whilst it is not illegal to seek employment when you are here on a Visitor Visa (or any other non-Work Visa), you cannot start working until you have secured a Work Visa specifically.

In addition, if you apply for a Visitor Visa to come here and your main purpose is to seek out a job, you need to declare that purpose to INZ and be truthful in terms of your application. It may sound counter-intuitive but it can work, provided you present the right evidence to support your reasons for travel and incentives to return.
